DD: AppleJacks is healthy, strong [willed], doing well at school, growing into a fine young lady and, despite the scrapes and bruises, is beautiful. She loves to read, loves to play, is kind to others, is a giving spirit who will help anyone who asks with basically anything. As a bonus, she still likes to snuggle with me.
DH: I'm so glad that he waited for me on top of STI in the cold and smiled when I finally got there - late, as usual. And that he still likes me as much as I like him. He's done more to enrich my life than I ever thought possible. (I'll stop with the sappiness now....)
Family: Because they love me and have to put up with me. But they probably would put up with me anyway (at least most of them).
Friends: Because they don't have to love me and do, and because they don't have to put up with me and choose to anyway.
Employment: I have a job when so many don't - even in my field. I'm thankful to AUD and Stan, who really is the only reason I will stay employed for the next 6+ months.
Renter: We can wait out the real estate market a little longer and not have to take such a huge loss on the townhouse right now. Sure, the rent doesn't quite cover the bills - but it makes it affordable.
Quiet: There are eight consecutive waking hours at least four times a week where I don't hear the words 'Mommy' or 'Mom'. My days at work, though they can be stressful, are usually quiet. Parents will understand completely.
Roses: That they are still blooming this week. Our rose bushes, all 5 of them, are prolific and constant bloomers. I needed to be reminded to stop and smell the roses, to accept the simple joys and beauty of life and I was able to yesterday, literally. They may be frostbitten in places, but I found at least a dozen that were beautiful and sweet smelling. It puts things back into perspective.
DH's Employment: He's quickly climbing the ladder at work, and it's awesome for several reasons. Mostly, I think it's awesome that his boss gave him a promotion based on the fact that he was already doing the work of the new position - instead of taking advantage of that fact. Plus, increases in salary are nice, especially when my salary went down "temporarily" more than 18 months ago - and it doesn't look like I'll get back to where I was anytime soon.
Coupons: I know it sounds dumb. But I can do so much more with what we've got by using them. I regularly save 60%+ on our groceries, and the stuff I get at the drugstore is usually 75-100% off. Or better. I will be glad to take stuff off your hands (legitimately) and have you pay me for the opportunity. Yes, it takes work and time, but I can save the money we'd be spending on things like toothpaste, soap, shampoo and detergent and use it toward vacations.
